Almost All Chat GPT Users Use Google

New data from Similarweb sheds some interesting light on how people are using ChatGPT alongside traditional search engines. According to Brodie Clark, who shared the findings on X, the numbers show that almost all ChatGPT users also turn to Google for information. In August 2025, 95.3 percent of ChatGPT users visited Google, while only 14.3 percent of Google users visited ChatGPT.

What this really highlights is how dominant Google remains, even as ChatGPT continues to grow in popularity. While ChatGPT has captured the imagination of many as a conversational AI tool, the vast majority of people still rely on Google for their everyday searches. It is clear that Google’s reach and trust with users are not easily matched.

This pattern suggests a future where AI tools and search engines coexist, each serving distinct needs. People may turn to ChatGPT for creative problem solving, drafting, or conversational answers, while relying on Google for more traditional search queries and a broader spectrum of information.

However, one thing remains certain is that Google’s search dominance is still in effect.  Nearly all users of AI, use Google.  Not all users of Google, use services like ChatGPT.
